Questions people ask Daniël
What is your call-out fee?
R650, which includes the first hour on site. Travel is R100 on most jobs, depending on the area. After the first hour Daniël charges R450 an hour.
Do you charge more after hours or on weekends?
Yes. Work after hours, on weekends and on public holidays is charged at 1.5 times the normal rates: R975 for the call-out including the first hour, then R675 an hour. Normal hours are Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.
What does a small job cost?
Usually just the call-out: R650 including the first hour, plus R100 travel depending on the area. That covers most plug points, light fittings and oven connections. If something will take longer, Daniël tells you before he carries on.
Do you give free quotes?
Yes. Bigger jobs get a free written quote. Daniël comes out, looks at the job himself and prices it before any work starts.
Will Daniël do the work himself?
Yes. Daniël quotes every job himself and does the work himself. On bigger projects he brings in qualified people he works with regularly, but he stays on site and stays the person you deal with.
Do you do safety inspections?
Yes. Daniël inspects homes and business premises and gives you a clear list of anything unsafe or not up to standard, with a price to fix it. If you need a certificate for a sale or new work, that is a COC inspection.
Why does my DB board keep tripping?
Usually it's an earth leakage fault (often moisture or a faulty appliance), an overloaded circuit, or a worn breaker. Switch off and unplug everything on that circuit, then reset it. If it still trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is in the wiring. Don't keep resetting a breaker that trips straight away; call an electrician.
Do you do emergency call-outs?
Yes. Daniël takes emergency call-outs on weekdays from 17:00 to 22:00, and on weekends and public holidays from 08:00 to 22:00. These are charged at the after-hours rate.
Do you install inverters, batteries or solar?
Yes. Daniël holds a PV Green Card and installs solar PV systems, inverters and batteries for homes and businesses, and certifies the work.
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes. Daniël guarantees his workmanship for 12 months.
